We are pleased to have Dr. James Bellini,
Journalist and Business Correspondent, as the master of ceremonies to preside over the keynote sessions and provide the conference introduction.

Dr. Bellini has been involved with an array of award-winning current affairs documentary programmes covering politics, economics, social affairs and the environment. In addition he has been working closely with a small team called Horizon 2025, researching how the world will change over the next twenty five years and the implications for companies and individuals.

ANN M. LIVERMORE

Ann M. Livermore is Vice President of Hewlett-Packard Company and General Manager of the Enterprise Computing Solutions Organization. Her organization is responsible for providing enterprise customers integrated solutions that encompass hardware, software and services from both HP and its partners. She is based in Mountain View, California.

During Ann Livermore’s most recent position as General Manager of the Software and Services Group, she focused on improving HP's high availability solutions program, strengthening the HP-Microsoft services relationship, forging stronger ties between HP and the resellers who serve as its sales and delivery partners, and building software businesses for HP.

Ms. Livermore joined HP in 1982, working on administration processes and systems in the U.S. Field Operations. In 1985, she was named Marketing Services Manager for the Application Support Division. She was promoted to Research & Development Manager of that division in 1986 and became its Marketing Manager in 1989. Ann Livermore became the Marketing Manager of the Professional Services Division in 1991 and was named Sales and Marketing Manager of the former Worldwide Customer Support Organization.

Ann M. Livermore was elected as Vice President in 1995 and was promoted to General Manager of Worldwide Customer Support Operations in 1996. In 1997 she took on responsibility for HP’s software businesses as General Manager of the newly formed Software and Services Group. In 1998, when the company decided to merge its hardware, software and services into a single organization focused on the needs of enterprise customers, she was named General Manager of the new Enterprise Computing Solutions Organization.

Born in Greensboro, North Carolina, Ms. Livermore holds a Bachelor's Degree in economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master's degree in Business Administration from Stanford University. In 1997, she was elected to the United Parcel Service (UPS) board of directors. Ann is also on the board of visitors of the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

ROBERT M. DUTKOWSKY
Executive Vice President, Markets and Channels
EMC Corporation

Bob Dutkowsky joined EMC in October 1997. Previous to EMC, he spent the last 20 years at IBM in a series of sales, marketing and senior management roles. Most recently, he was Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing for IBM's RS/6000 business, responsible for a multi-billion dollar annual revenue stream and a major marketing campaign involving the chess match between world chess champion Garry Kasparov and Deep Blue, an IBM supercomputer. Bob’s previous positions at IBM included Vice President and General Manager, Channels, Distribution and General Business for Asia; Executive Assistant to the Chairman of the Board; and Trading Area General Manager for two major U.S. business units. A graduate of Cornell University, Bob joined IBM in 1977.

KEVIN GIBSON
Managing Director
SAP (UK)

At 34, Kevin Gibson is the youngest member of the senior management team at SAP (UK). He became the managing director of the company in February 1998 having worked for the company for just six years. He joined the company as a salesman and quickly impressed with his flair, breadth of experience and business sense. He soon moved into management as a Divisional Director for Manufacturing and Management and was then promoted to Sales Director.

Previously Kevin worked as an engineer with Smiths Industries having attained both a bachelor's and master's degrees in engineering. He jokes that he was quite possibly the last engineering apprentice taken on in the UK and as such practised the skills of the trade before moving into system design. His experiences here are a rich source that shape his thinking on management and provide interesting and often amusing anecdotes with which he peppers his presentations.

His interests outside of work include Rugby as captain of his local club and motorcycles, both of which feature regularly in his thinking and presentations. Kevin is married and has one child.

KENNETH CLARKE
QC, MP

Kenneth Clarke is a barrister-at-law, having been called to the Bar by Grays Inn in 1963 and becoming a QC in 1980. Having been active in politics during his time at Caius College, Cambridge, Mr. Clarke successfully contested the Rushcliffe seat at the 1970 General Election. Since then he has held a number of senior positions in the Conservative Government including Minister for Trade & Industry, Secretary of State for Health, Secretary of State for Education & Science, Secretary of State for the Home Office and, latterly, Chancellor of the Exchequer.

ADAIR TURNER
Director-General
CBI

Adair Turner has been Director-General of the CBI since 1995. After gaining a degree in History and Economics from Caius College, Cambridge, Mr. Turner worked for British Petroleum and Chase Manhattan Bank before joining McKinsey & Co. in 1982. There he became a Principal in 1988 and a Director in 1994. At McKinsey, Mr. Turner consulted top management in a wide range of industries and, from 1992, focused on building McKinsey’s practice in Eastern Europe, with responsibility for all banking work.

DAVID HENDERSON
IT Strategy Leader

PricewaterhouseCoopers

David Henderson currently heads up the Information Technology component of PricewaterhouseCoopers’ strategic change practice in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region. He is responsible for developing IT strategy for multinational organisations, ensuring the integration of IT into the planning, design and implementation of strategic change programmes. He joined PricewaterhouseCoopers in 1987 and was made a partner in 1992.

His experience spans 27 years, both in industry and consulting, and Henderson has worked in a wide range of industries including; consumer products, brewing, pharmaceuticals, railway transportation, financial services, manufacturing, engineering, distribution and retailing.

Between 1982 and 1987, Henderson was Marketing and Account Manager for GMIS, the Information Services subsidiary of Grand Metropolitan (now Diageo). This was preceded by eleven years at Beecham (now SmithKline Beecham) Group, working in a range of senior IT and business systems positions.

Henderson gained an BSc from the University of Glasgow and is a member of the following professional bodies:

JAMES RICHARDSON

Cisco Systems, Inc.

James Richardson, a 16 year veteran of the high tech industry and an 8 year veteran at Cisco, has been a key contributor on Cisco's executive management committee for 6 years whilst the company has grown from $350 million to over $8 billion. In addition to sales and marketing expertise, his key contributions have been in sponsoring software and product development activities in the access and IBM markets, as well as with Cisco's key IOS development activities.

James has recently been involved in sharing his experiences and business knowledge at industry conferences. In 1997, James was a keynote speaker at Comdex London, Networks in Birmingham, Telecoms Interactive in Geneva, Etre in Budapest and IT Comdex in Paris.

James was appointed as President of EMEAAN following his success at founding and developing foreign subsidiaries as Vice President of Intercontinental Operations from 1992 to 1994, and as Vice President of North America Operations, where he groomed a $650 million operation and grew it to a run rate in excess of $2 billion during FY 1995 and 1996.

Prior to joining Cisco in 1990 Richardson held a number of line and staff senior management positions at Unisys, Canada.

James received his Bachelor of Commerce Degree in marketing and finance from Queens University in Kingston, Ontario.

PHILIP CRAWFORD
Senior Vice President of the UK & Ireland
Oracle Corporation UK Limited

Philip Crawford, 47, is responsible for the strategic direction and growth of Oracle’s business in the UK and Ireland. In October 1998 he was appointed to the Oracle Corporation management committee, chaired by Ray Lane, president and chief operating officer. Philip joined Oracle in 1995 from Bull Information Systems UK, where he was CEO. Prior to that he set up and ran Bull’s systems integration business, directing the change to a services and consulting organisation.

Philip Crawford is a leading speaker on technology and competitiveness issues in the UK, as well as a non-executive director of three other companies.

IAN SMITH
Managing Director

Ian was appointed head of BT UK Customer Service on 10 August 1998, reporting directly to Bill Cockburn, Group Managing Director of BT UK. Prior to this, from 1 June 1998, he was Acting Managing Director of BT’s Consumer Division.

Ian joined BT in May 1994, when he was appointed Director Customer Service for the then Personal Communications Division, tasked with creating world class customer service and ensuring that BT’s Customer Service Centres continuously improved the quality of service given to residential customers.

From the beginning of April 1995, he took on additional responsibility for the whole of Operator Assistance and Directory Enquiries. In April 1998, Consumer Telemarketing joined Customer Services to create a new directorate, Customer Service & Sales. Ian is also a member of the Board of BT Scotland, and on 1 June 1998 became Acting Managing Director of BT’s Consumer Division. Prior to joining BT, Ian was Director of Business Partners at Digital Equipment Company Ltd. He has more than 25 years customer service, field service, and sales experience, mainly in the information technology industry in the UK and USA, as both engineer and manager.

Ian was born in Edinburgh, brought up and educated in Portsmouth, and lives in Hampshire with his wife Jennifer and their two sons. He is a keen sports fan and supporter of Portsmouth Football Club.

EDDIE JORDAN
Jordan Grand Prix

Eddie Jordan is a survivor. From modest beginnings, as a mid-field racing driver in the 1970s, he set up his own racing team in 1980 and ten years on, in 1990, entered the jewel in motor racing’s crown, Formula One. Jordan is one of Formula One’s biggest celebrities and the owner of a team which this year won its first Grand Prix in Belgium and proved itself to be a serious competitor by finishing fourth in the Constructors Championship.
