The pace of change is increasing. Events on one side of the world have a dramatic
effect on the other. Economies are inextricably linked. Pundits talk about the next
industrial revolution, the Information Age and the rise of the digital economy.
Through all of this, industry leaders must continue to grow their
companies for the benefit of customers, employees and shareholders alike. They must devise
strategies which steer their companies through the minefields of economic, political and
competitive turbulence. They must keep their companies agile, embrace change and create
strategic business advantage. And they must have the insight and foresight to recognize
new market opportunities as they occur.
But what are the strategies which enable this to happen? In essence
there are four:
Innovation strategies create new wealth and markets by
stepping outside the conventions of normal thinking and finding new ways of fulfilling
existing customer needs or identifying new ones that consumers may not even realize they
have.
Differentiation strategies generate sales by
increasing the perceived value of products and services and putting competitors at a
disadvantage.
Operational strategies focus on "doing things
right" rather than "doing the right things" to increase revenue and
profitability.
Alliance strategies look at the synergies which accrue
along the value chain, creating real or virtual alliances to generate incremental wealth.
Developing strategies demands a deep understanding of the factors that
are driving change in today's marketplace. Information technology is one of the most
compelling factors, with its inherent power to create new market opportunities and change
the way we live and work.
The MCC Conferences are laying the
foundation for these strategies to be applied in a unified and responsible manner, with
the intention of effecting steady and universal growth. Please join us in our quest to
bring together the forces that will make our global economy thrive in the next millennium.
